Design

Mazda CX-5 is the first to showcase our new design language 'KODO - Soul of Motion' where powerful, athletic cues capture the muscular beauty of an animal springing into motion. In Mazda CX-5, the energetic leap of a cheetah is reflected. With elegant lines, graceful details and a well-planted footprint, it stands proudly apart from other SUVs.

The prominence of the rear fenders expresses a well-planted stance, forming melds with the body side, continuing into the emphatically sculpted body section and creating an attractive surface.

Rear spoiler

All models come with a rear spoiler, adding another dynamic and sporty expression to the CX-5 whilst boosting aerodynamic efficiency.

Sunroof

The power-sliding and tilt glass sunroof comes standard on Grand Touring, which enables you to let the outside in.

Alloy wheels

17 inch and 19 inch alloy wheels are featured in Maxx Sport and Grand Touring respectively. Both types emphasise the expression of dynamic motion.

Auto on/off headlamps

Equipped on Maxx Sport and Grand Touring models, headlamps that automatically turn on and off are featured, letting you focus on enjoying the drive.

Bi-Xenon headlamps

Grand Touring models feature high intensity light from Bi-Xenon headlamps which cast a longer, broader beam for superior vision. In addition, the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) lights the direction you're steering and headlamp washers keep lenses clean.

Daytime running lamps

Featured in Grand Touring models, the daytime running lamps are automatically switched on to improve safety during daylight conditions.

Fog lamps

Fog lamps make driving safer when fog or other hazardous weather conditions reduce visibility. Featured in Maxx Sport and Grand Touring, they also add a sporty touch to the exterior design.

Tail lamps

The rear combinaion lamps consist of units located on the lift gate and the body side in a sporty and horizontally elongated design.

Rain-sensing wipers

Available for Maxx Sport and Grand Touring, wipers that turn themselves on when it's raining, ensure your vision is clear in all conditions.

Exhaust extensions

Chrome-tipped exhausts give you the expectation of exciting CX-5's performance.

Bluetooth® connectivity

With BLUETOOTH® as standard equipment you've got the ease of hands-free phone calls along with MP3 player connectivity.

Cruise Control

Cruise control system ensures a constant speed is maintained on those longer journeys. Controls on steering wheel fall easily to hand and can be operated without removing your eyes from the road.

USB and AUX

A 3.5mm auxiliary jack and iPod® compatible USB input located in the rear centre console ensure you're always connected to your favourite tracks. A handy 12 volt power outlet is also included.

Push-button start

In all models you start up by just hitting the ignition button that makes you feel special.

Storage

Place things you want where you want, whenever you want. Large open space in front of the shift lever, door pockets, cup holders, centre console with tray and overhead sunglass storage box ensure greater ease-of-use.

Seating

The spacious and elegant interior accommodates five people easily. Especially spacious headroom, legroom and knee clearance give comfortable driving even for rear occupants.

Cargo space

Highly efficient space design allows to load your gear simply. 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats operated by a handy remote lever are featured in Maxx Sport and Grand Touring models. They allow the flexibility of a centre tunnel that lets you carry both long objects and two rear passengers. Generous load area is enhanced by a flat floor.

Tonneau cover

Spacious load area is accessed by easy opening tailgate with integrated 'Karakuri' protective tonneau. It moves in unison with the tailgate for seamless convenience.

Put simply, we've re-engineered every aspect of All-New Mazda CX-5 to unleash greater efficiency and more driving enjoyment than any SUV has ever offered.

Aerodynamics

We've aimed to realize outstanding sporty design alongside exceptional aerodynamics. For example rear spoiler incorporating side spoiler comes standard on all models, achieving both an excellent aerodynamic function as well as a sporty and active look.

i-stop

Our clever i-stop system puts you further ahead, even at a standstill. Come to a halt and it turns off the engine to further save fuel. The engine is perfectly positioned to leap back to life as you move off, so restarting takes much less time than conventional systems.

SKYACTIV-Body

"New-generation design and technologies take performance to unmatched levels. The underbody employs straight-frame construction, which runs uninterrupted through the framework to boost stiffness while saving weight. Greatly increased use of high and ultra-high tensile steel throughout cuts weight, yet bolsters rigidity."

Towing capacity

Towing capacity of CX-5 is 1,800kg (breaked) or 750kg (unbreaked).

SKYACTIV-Body

"SKYACTIV-Body combines lightness with high rigidity. Impact paths are distributed carefully, offering the strongest possible occupant protection."

Braking system

The brakes back you up with large discs all round, ABS and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), which optimizes braking force according to vehicle load. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) boosts stopping power at just the right time, by monitoring pedal force to recognise emergency braking.

Airbags

Six SRS airbags including front, side (front) and curtain (front and rear) are standard affording the maximum protection to all occupants.

Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)

By scanning external mirrors' blind spots, this innovation warns of any unseen vehicles to help you avoid making hazardous lane changes. LED icon on the relevant mirror is accompanied by warning beeper. Tech Pack option for Grand Touring only.

High Beam Control (HBC)

Enjoy the enhanced safety of high beam illumination, without having to manually switch to low-beam. A camera detects oncoming cars' headlights, or the taillights of cars in front, and automatically switches to low-beam then back when it's safe. Also selects low beam in lit areas or at low speed. Tech Pack option for Grand Touring only.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Using a windscreen-mounted camera to monitor road lane markings, this system warns you in advance if you're about to stray from your lane, via an audible warning. Tech Pack option for Grand Touring only.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is standard across the CX-5 range. DSC helps the driver out of sticky situations where understeer or oversteer is detected.

Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)

In the event of emergency braking from a high speed, the Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) system alerts the following driver to help prevent a rear impact during deceleration by rapidly flashing the hazdard-warning lamps.

Hill Launch Assist (HLA)

"All models come with Hill Launch Assist (HLA). Remove your foot from the brake on an incline and it keeps the brakes applied, releasing them when there's enough power for a smooth start."

Parking sensors

Featured in Grand Touring, sensors at the front and rear sound audible warnings to make parking easier, and help avoid parking bumps or scratches.

Reverse camera

All models come with Reverse camera. By giving you a clear view of what's behind you via a colour display, both reversing and parking are made safer and easier.

Whiplash minimising front seat

To reduce the load on the occupant’s neck due to a rear-end collision accident, the neck injury mitigation structure of the front seats is adopted.
